No, the dress does not

make you look fat

nor do I see

the crow’s feet

(I hate that phrase)

or the myriad piques

your mirror announces –

stentorian to you

inconsequential to me.


Trust me here:

I love you enough

to see everything

yet be blinded

by years of

your being close

or apart

but always here

without my asking.
