About Us
Touch began, as an idea over the course of several separate discussions during the winter of 2007-08 with two dear friends of mine, Larina Warnock, editor of The Externalist and Christine Klocek-Lim, editor of Autumn Sky Poetry. I came to know these two women through my volunteer work as a moderator for the Academy of American Poets Poetry Forum. As we shared our views on poetry and how it reflects on life, I often talked about my nursing career and the life changing moments I had experienced while interacting with my colleagues and patients. Slowly the concept of a poetry and literature journal dedicated to human interaction during times of illness, injury, disease, death, and recovery began to take form in my mind. I felt there was not only a place for this kind of writing, but a need for a venue that could share it easily, free of charge, and across the globe. Often this idea would find itself moved to the back burner as I became involved in other things - as the saying goes "Life happens" - but it continued to surface and nag at me. As I gained insight and experience in writing, publishing, and web design, I realized this was something I could do with a lot of thought and a moderate amount of effort.
We hope you find the writings here will inspire you, quiet you, offer you moments of introspection, and moments of reflection, and we hope it provides you with opportunities to touch the lives of those around you.
In the future we plan to add an annual print edition that contains the best poetry and prose found within our pages over the year.
Thank you for giving us the opportunity to share these writings with you.
